ELTI Deferral Policy

The ELTI defines a deferral as a deferral of admission. This is when a new student needs to change their original admission date for various reasons, including visa denial and other personal circumstances. Students who need to defer their admission should follow the guidance listed below.

  1. There is a maximum of three deferral requests per student within a two-year period. The period begins from the date that the application is submitted.
  2. Students who request a deferral must fill out the ELTI Deferral Request Form. This is emailed to students by ELTI staff upon request. The link is not publicly available.
  3. After one year from the date the first application was submitted, students must fill out a new application and pay the application fee again.
  4. Students who request a deferral more than one calendar year from their original application date must submit a new ELTI application and pay a new ELTI application fee.
  5. Students who have not paid the I-901 fee will have their deferral request denied by the ELTI team. The request may be reconsidered once the fee has been paid.
  6. Students requesting a deferral because of visa denial should know that the chances of being granted a visa after even one denial are low. After repeated denials, a student’s chances of getting a visa are highly unlikely.
